Further to our appeal to the Ministry of Education regarding the incident of racism at the school in Netivot, we received a reply letter stating that hearings were held for all the teachers involved, they were reprimanded, and it was decided to take disciplinary action against them. The Ministry of Education has a dialogue on the issue of racism, and there is no place for such perceptions.
It is also written that the decisions made in the Ministry of Education will have a significant impact on the professional future of the teachers. The teachers expressed regret and recruited professionals to talk about racism with the students, the management, the parents’ representatives and the heads of the community in the city.
In the conversation with the Ministry of Education and in the reply letter that was sent to us, there is a commitment that “the handling of the incident is placed before them and will be handled even after the Passover holiday”.
It was brought to our attention that the teachers decided to leave the school – the teachers realized the magnitude of their sin and the steps that were going to be taken against them and it is good that they did so!!!
The teachers realized reluctantly, that it has no place in the education system and in particular in this school.
The Tebeka Association will continue to act against all manifestations of racism and uproot such illegal and dark phenomena!
