Some time ago, we shared the disturbing story of a young man of Ethiopian descent who reported being physically assaulted, humiliated, and subjected to severe racist abuse, including remarks such as “Filthy Ethiopian” and “No wonder people hate you. You’re Ethiopians.”
Today, we are sharing an important update: Tebeka did not stop at telling his story. We took legal action and filed a lawsuit in court to seek justice and protect his rights.
The lawsuit seeks NIS 200,000 in compensation from the defendants for the incident and the damages allegedly suffered as a result.
For us, the fight against racism does not end with expressions of outrage. When someone is harmed because of their ethnic origin, standing up for their rights through the legal means available to them is an essential part of seeking justice.
The lawsuit has been filed, and it is now up to the court to decide.
Tebeka will continue to stand alongside victims of racism and discrimination, amplify their voices, and take action to ensure that their rights are protected and upheld.
